About Julie
My Background
- I grew up in Colorado and all of my family is in the state, mostly nearby. My husband Joseph, daughter Maya and I settled in Lyons about 4 years ago and are here to stay.
- I studied public policy and economics and have a Masters Degree In Public Administration with a concentration in development economics
- I spent several years at Rocky Mountain Institute working on sustainable economic development in small towns in Colorado and I served on Moab Utah’s Economic Development Advisory Board.
- During a 17 year career as a senior economist at the World Bank, I managed multi-million dollar public investment projects, analyzed and evaluated government programs and expenditures and helped lead the World Bank into funding bottom-up community-driven development programs, giving local communities a greater voice and more direct access to funding.
- I have a background in public finance and professional experience in finding ways of making government spending more efficient and effective.
- I have long been involved in environmental and resource sustainability issues – from studying renewable energy systems around the world in the early 1980s to finding ways to reduce our family’s energy consumption, consume more locally produced food and lower our environmental impact today.
- I now consult part-time, leaving me time to engage in community affairs. I have an office in Lyons, so I am available and my time is very flexible.
Community Involvement: I've spent the last several years volunteering on local commissions and with community groups and have learned a great deal about the issues facing Lyons.
